Following Directions

Today, Matt was doing his math paper. As I was grading his work, I informed him that he had not followed directions in one section, and that he would have to go back and correct his answers. Upon hearing this, he said the infamous words, "It's not fair." I said, "You didn't follow the directions, and went ahead on your own. And now, you've made mistakes that need to be corrected." As soon as the words came out of my mouth, I thought how many times this has happened in my own life. When I don't follow God's directions, I too end up in a situation filled with mistakes. And yet, the Lord forgives my waywardness and sets me back on the right path.
"This is the way, walk ye in it." -Isaiah 30:21

Oh boy, I have done that too, where I say something to Isabella and I think "Wow, God must think the same way about me." Especially lately as she will continue to do the same things over and over that she's been told not to do and I think to myself "Why in the world is she not 'getting it'" Ouch! I know God must do that to me.

Yes, so true. God is so good to us to give us forgiveness and a second chance-- just like you Mamas are doing with your kids everyday.
It's a beautiful picture of Christ you've painted for my Matty today.
